Protests in France are continuing and are accompanied by violent clashes with the police

Police blocked school and university students participating in a protest at the Place de la Bastille in Paris. Security forces used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, Reuters reports.

According to the LCI television channel, protesters pelted police officers with stones and other objects. In response, law enforcement used water cannons.

Footage circulating on social media shows a detained high school student escaping. Officers were about to put the teenager into a police vehicle when his friends threw firecrackers at the police, allowing him to get away.
