A U.S. court has issued an arrest warrant for former Cuban President Raúl Castro. In response, Cuba’s current president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez condemned the move, labeling it a "maneuver" by factions that represent the "political rot" of the state of Florida.
In a post on his X account, the Cuban leader described the "reprehensible action against the Army General" as part of a "pathetic Miami circus, with an electoral subtext," and asserted that the measure "has no legal or practical basis whatsoever—nor will it ever."
"This maneuver, dressed up in legal terms and orchestrated by anti-Cuban politicians against Raúl and Cuba, deserves our firm condemnation. It is part of an aggressive agenda and stems from the difficulties they face in trying to justify the blockade and the collective punishment of our people," stated Díaz-Canel.
For his part, the Cuban foreign minister stated on his social media channels that this "futile maneuver by anti-Cuban politicians in South Florida" is a "reflection of the political rot and moral collapse through which a group of parasites deceives and swindles its followers, inducing them to keep contributing via fundraising and financial support."
