The Trump administration is preparing a $2.8 billion sale of 40,000 heavy bombs (2,000-pound MK-84s and BLU-117s) to Israel—the largest sale of its kind in years, funded by U.S. taxpayer dollars.
The Washington Post reports that these are the same bombs the Biden administration had briefly paused due to concerns over civilian casualties.
The sale will be submitted to Congress for approval, where it could pose a challenge for Democrats; more than 100 House Democrats voted in July to cut aid to Israel.
